One of the healthiest foods around, oats have become a favourite as a breakfast food. They are a rich source of fibre, protein, and antioxidants. Oats are a good option to start your day because they leave you feeling full for a long time and provide you with the energy you need to kickstart your day well! They are lauded to be very helpful for your gut health, regulating your digestive processes, and are considered to help in losing weight if added to a regular balanced diet. Traditionally boiled in some milk, and eaten with the addition of honey or sugar, oats are one of the few ingredients that are so thoroughly enjoyed in such a simple manner. However, a little bit of excitement has never done any harm. People have increasingly been experimenting with oats, and we have found a myriad of ways to cook with them now. They taste amazing baked into healthier options of biscuits, muffins, and pancakes. They can also be ground up into a flour and the flour can be used in several batters, or to make oat milk which is a brilliant and easy to make substitute for cow’s milk. Soaked overnight in any milk of your choice (cow’s, almond, rice, etc) along with fruits, yogurt, chia seeds and nuts, overnight oats are deliciously filling, and the best thing is that they require no cooking! Oats can also be added to smoothies for that extra source of fibre and heartiness. So many possibilities from something so simple!
