Learn Tamil

With over 74 million speakers across the world, Tamil is considered on the oldest classical languages of human civilisation. The longest surviving records of this language are over 2000 years old, and the language is spoken officially in 3 countries- India, Sri Lanka, and Singapore. Universities in Malaysia offer instruction in Tamil, and a huge Tamil population has settled in countries such as Mauritius and South Africa, where Tamil is a recognised minority language! Despite being spoken in the state of Tamil Nadu in India, it is also spoken in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Telangana, and even in the Union Territory of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It is also listed as one of the 22 scheduled languages of India. Learning Tamil will enable you to comfortably travel not only across India, but across the world, as Tamil speakers have settled in all corners of the globe. Their culture is rich with classical music and dance, that can be enjoyed even more once you learn the language fluently. Tamil movies and music are also very popular today, and you can enjoy these without the need for subtitles or getting someone to translate! It’s a fantastic idea to learn a new language to expand your horizons, and it’s an even better idea for that language to be Tamil!
