Breaking down the stigma of depression # 3
Dealing with Relapses "Depression is the cancer of the mind and no one will ever say it's just cancer you will get over it " While recovery is a war, relapses are smaller battles across the path. Right when you feel you are over it and it's all behind you it slowly starts creeping back in stronger pulling you down harder than last time. Firstly, don't be in denial. Accept fully that you are going through a relapse. Remember relapse is a part of recovery. Don't beat yourself about it. What matters now is if you let it destroy you or strengthen you. Relapse doesn't erase your success. Be proud you tried and succeeded once. Don't push yourself and try to snap out of it in haste. Stay with the feeling, introspect what triggered the relapse. Start afresh take professional help all over again if needed. Don't let the fear of relapse stop you from recovering. Finally you are not defined by the relapses but by the decision to remain in recovery despite them.
