Hi Deepa, I am new mom of six month old baby girl, I am struggling between my part time job and baby, I really don't know what should I eat to get rid of my 10-12 kgs extra weight that I have put on due to pregnancy, can you please suggest me on what diet I should follow so that I can shed these calories, I am a pure vegetarian Thanks Kavita

Hi Kavita, If you are breastfeeding your baby then you don't have to worry about your weight that much as you also need proper nutrition to feed your baby. And slowly you will see your weight coming down as it takes time. You can start some kind if exercise regime if possible and eat healthy. Avid fats and high sugar foods.

Hi Azma..Your BMI is 27.3 according to your weight , height and age and you are overweight. Do you do any exercise? Walking? It is very important to eat healthy and stay active as only diet control is not going to help if you are not active. On the other hand, get yourself checked for any disorder or hormonal changes. Hi Deepa, I am 28years old woman, 5ft tall and 48kgs weight. I eat aroung 2000cals per day, workout 4 days a week on strength training. I mostly eat clean. Though I am on my ideal weight, I think I look a bit on the thinner side. I am not skinny, I am well toned and have well defined muscles. But I want to gain a little more weight in a healthy way so that I gain muscle, and not fat. Can you please help me on how I can increase weight. PS: I have PCOS, so I usually don't eat anything that increases my insulin resistance.

Hi Ananya Your BMI is calculated as 20.7 and according to me you are at a normal weight level. With a good balance of body fat and muscle mass,you will be fine and maintain your health too. As you suffer from PCOS, it already puts you at a risk of weight gain. But its good that you have normal weight. A stable weight at this level is fine, especially if you keep fit.You are already in your optimal weight range. Gaining weight would add no benefit to your health. Eat a variety of foods that you like, including five servings of fruit and vegetables a day. Avoid eating too sweet, too fat and too much.. If you still want to gain some muscles, try including foods like oatmeal (good source of carbohydrates with low glycemic index), Good source of proteins like tofu, eggs, cheese, skinless chicken, fish (not only for proteins but also for healthy oils like Omega 3 fatty oils), whole grains, fruits and vegetables for overall health.
