Beating The Blues
It’s Monday and you all you can do is groan and sigh while dragging yourself to office. Are you one of those who face overwhelming feelings of anxiety, sadness, or stress when the week starts? Do you lack passion and motivation on Monday morning? Does everything seem harder?
Even though we wished Mondays would just fade into oblivion, they are also really important for setting the tone for the rest of our week. Here are a few things that will help you get through the rough Mondays.
Prepare for Monday on previous Friday
To help combat that Monday morning anxiety, be sure to leave yourself as few dreadful tasks as possible on Friday afternoon. Mondays can be extra stressful if there is week pending from the previous week. If you do have any unpleasant tasks awaiting your attention Monday morning, get them done as early as possible so that you don’t spend the rest of the day procrastinating
Get a good sleep on Sunday night
Monday mornings are hard enough. Don’t spend your entire Sunday night partying until the break of dawn when you have to go to work the next day. The more sleep you get, the better off you’ll be. You’ll wake up Monday morning feeling refreshed and ready for the day.
Avoid skipping Breakfast
They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and it’s especially true on a Monday. Avoid skipping breakfast. Even if it’s a cup of orange juice and a banana, have something that will get your morning started.
It’s a whole new week
You have five whole days to remind everyone why you are good at your job, and work on getting that promotion. No matter what happened last week, Mondays are the time to make a fresh start after you have rejuvenated yourself (mostly) over the weekend.
Bring in the positivity
To pump yourself up on your way in to work, try listening to your favourite songs. Think about and appreciate the things that you enjoy about work. Take time to recognize and appreciate the things that you enjoy about work.
If you’re able to be a source of positivity in the workplace, not only will you make your day more enjoyable, but you’ll also increase your productivity.
Do things at work that please and you are good at. Keep Mondays light, do not schedule 4 calls with harsh clients on a Monday Morning itself. Try to make your Mondays as stress-free as possible.
Plan something post work
Your day shouldn’t just be about trudging through Monday to get it over with, but about looking forward to something. You may be too tired for a movie, but what about drinks with friends? Having something to look forward to will help move the day along.
