Indian Women Freedom Fighters

As an outcome of a general lack of awareness, people tend to overlook the contribution of female freedom fighters in the history of India's struggle for independence. The limelight is stolen by the multitude of male agitators, and the females are shrouded by a pall of disregard.The number of women who faced all types of adversities and gave up their lives for the sake of their beloved motherland is large. Some, like Rani Laxmi Bai, are remembered, their sacrifices honored, whereas their many sisters in arms remain in the dark.Some of the stirring, fearless female freedom fighters of India are mentioned below-Begum Royeka- Born on December 9, 1880, she died on her date of birth as well. She was a fierce woman who stood for her fellow sisters and advocated gender equality when freedom was just a dream.Kittur Rani Chennamma- A part of the Lingayat community, she was taught many skills like horse riding, sword fighting, and archery from a young age. Kittur Rani Chennamma got married at the age of 15 only, but lost her husband, Raja Mallasarja, and her son and had to take up the responsibility of looking after the kingdom, which she fulfilled wonderfully. She rebelled against the British East India Company's attempt to take over her country and died for her nation.Kanaklata Barua- She was a young martyr whose life burned short and bright. She hailed from Assam and joined the Mrityu Bahini, a death squad when the Quit India Movement was raging across the nation. She was shot dead in her attempt to hoist the Indian flag atop the local police station. She laid down her life for her kingdom when she was only 17, choosing a vision of a free India over her existence.The people of India owe their freedom to these brave women freedom fighters.
