My experience with IBM was very enriching and encouraging.IBM is woman friendly company which provides Work from home option depending on the project you get into. It has very strong HR policies for women. Most women employees generally do leave the company due to its women friendly policies.
Work from home options, cab facilities for women employees after 8pm, Great work culture, Well defined processes and policies in place, lateral movement opportunities.
Promotions and band progressions take a long time to come thru sometimes years. Not much increase in terms of remuneration. It is essential to negotiate salary details clearly with a proper breakup of the final in-hand salary before joining.
Pros: Work from home for certain designations, support women and protect them against any sexual harassment (IBM is best in this case)
Cons: Not anything specific to women. you cant carry your child along. Though they have flexible hours culture depending on the manager.
On paper, the policies are extremely women friendly, however with personal experience, it all depends on the manager the employee is reporting to.
Pros: Work from home option is provided for quite a lot of projects, cab service is available for projects with shifts, paid maternity leave and unpaid year long sabbatical is provided.
Cons: work from home depends from on the project and clientele, cab isn't provided on individual basis and is dependant of availability of service respective to the location.
In the location that I work in, IBM provides no creche or day care facilities. However, what it does provide is a flexible work option. I can work from home maybe twice a week..
I guess IBM is women friendly ..
