Pros- Very good and healthy work environment with equal opportunity for all. Get time to spend with family. Employees friendly. Policies are good. Creche available only in Hyderabad office. Bus services available for office.
Cons- Relocation is bit difficult if you are developer. Yearly appraisal is nominal.
worked in American express Financial centre,Delhi in the year 2005.It was long back and worked only for a year in that company.I quit that company just bcoz of personal reason.
Nothing much to share but the time I spend in Amex was awesome.I will always cherish the memories.
It's a great company to work with.Very women friendly and a very positive working environment as well.
So quickly coming to your questions now
1.I would rate it a 5 as it's very women friendly
2.I never had any disadvantage working there. As far as advantages are concerned, you will find many things happening in the company which will take you to your next level in your career.I have seen many people sticking to the same company for more than 10 to 15 years. So as far as my experience in the company is concerned it was a great working place for women.
I feel the organisation gives equal opportunity to deserving candidates irrespective of their sex.Like every organisation there are teams where you see a lot of politics which makes working there a bit stressful.
Pros : Amex offers variety of training programs which are for professional as well as personal development.
It has a transparent management and most leaders have open door policies which means they are always ready for an one on one conversation.
Amex promotes healthy living, they do have free zumba sessions for employees and a 24X7 helpline for mental illness for employees and their families.
Other facilities like transport, medicine room, gym and lactation room for women, no doubts make it one of the best organization to work for.
Cons: they do have work pressure and a very competitive environment.
One may have to extend working hours to complete essential duties which are not directly related to your working area, for example compiling data and making reports for entire directorate, which on the other hand is required for your growth in the company.
American Express is a women centric company. They pay more emphasis on women and their development. I would rate 5 on this metric.
There are many advantages in working in this company. The biggest advantage is their pay scale and incentives. They give you money but they need work. They take lot of hard work but would definitely pay you for that. They have lot of activities and events to engage employees. They run various programmes for the benefit of their employees.
I would rate American Express 5 on 5! Home pick and drop facility is available for everyone. For women, if one opts for an early morning shift, a security guard/escort will always be there in the cab. During the orientation program itself, all the female employees are told that they are not allowed to board the cab in the absence of an escort. Moreover, she would need to inform the transport team and ask them to send another cab along with a security guard. Focusing on its female employees is one of the high priority areas of American Express. There are no cons for women to work in American Express. If you are getting a chance to work with the same, DO NOT give it second thoughts. It's a huge brand name and gives a lot of exposure. The shifts differ from process to process. If you are a mother, you can talk to the HR regarding the shifts, once you join the company. They are not at all rigid and will definitely consider your situation.
Some of the perks to work with American Express is that you get to do a lot of things apart from work. There are fun Fridays, regular team activities and if you like to dance, then this is the place where you can explore that too. There is the "Showtime" dance competition that is organised by the company twice a year. It is held among the American Express employees all over Gurgaon.
I started my career from American Express and worked there for 1.5 years. After that, I worked with Accenture, Gurgaon, for a while and currently working in Tata Consultancy Services, Bangalore.Trust me, the environment that American Express has, I have not find it in any of these mentioned corporate offices. Although, both of them are quite huge names but, American Express is one of the best places to work with. If given a chance, I would definitely want to go back there!
The biggest con is the 9.5 hours log in time. Its not just capgemini all other companies have it too. But being a women its very hard to stick to such timeline. Plus there are no stuck leaves, only the 22 yearly privilege leaves. These are general things. Apart from this a lot depends on the project and the team you get.
It is not at all women friendly and women managers are the worse as they will never understand and she being a single mother will never get an opportunity to spend time with her kids as they dont understand the condition.
Capgemini after merger with IGATE have male employees who are not at all women friendly and they dont consider anything also inform her that there is 1% hike every year which is worse and the 1% they put in variable pay which means u dont get any hike.
