Hi Shika.Even with a non medical background ,you can definitely become a psychologist .You need a medical background to become a psychiatrist .You can however work in the mental health space by going in for a clinical psychology and psychotherapy. With appropriate training ,some psychologists working as mental health providers can prescribe medications as well. Do you have a previous background in the subject ? If not ,you would need to go in for a graduate or post graduate degree in psychology and then go in for various specializations - Industrial, counseling, child ,clinical etc. Most Universities offer post graduate courses in various disciplines as well as in Applied Psychology.ILet me know if you have more questions on this .Best,Monica
