Dear Akshaya, You must have signed a joining letter , which states that the contract can be terminated on either side by giving X months notice. Hence this contract holds good. You will have to pay the notice pay contractually to get the relieving letter. However on compassionate grounds you can ask the head of HR or MD of that bank to waive aside the notice period by showing them your heath records etc. If they agree then you may get your letter without notice period. However they have to ensure it is not setting a precedent , hence only can do it on compassion. All the best.
