Vidhya asked

Dear Sir, \\n\\nThank you for your reply! \\n1.To start with I was working in Digital marketing which is about, Promotions, Ads, Solutions, partnerships in the Mobile Space. It is associated with the advertising business but on Mobile. I used to get Brands to spend on Mobile marketing, generate revenue for the company.\\n\\n2. The company that I got an offer from is into Management Consultancy, Business Advisory, like a McKinsey or a Bain & Company. This company is small compared to the giants I mentioned but are in the same Business. I have worked on Market Analysis, Go to market Strategy and on those lines in my career but not in a structured manner. \\n\\nTo answer your questions one by one:\\n1. What do I want to achieve in my professional life? Ans: This is what I wanted to do since the beginning, Business Advisory services, being a Business consultant. \\nI specialize in screening potential business deals by analyzing the market requirements, deal requirement, and identify potential partners and estimate partner’s needs and goals. I have this innate ability to identify dots and draw the line to create solutions required.Besides that I have that knack for research and know where to get the right info required for any task. I always wanted to be a Business Consultant.\\n\\n2. Why do you want to pursue this new opportunity? Ans: This opportunity gives me experience and the chance to utilize my abilities to work in this domain. If I do well I could further take it up ahead in my life in this stream. \\n\\n3. You don't seem to be very confident about this new role. What are you\\\\n scared off & why?\\\\\\nAns: This is a very small company and my role is that of Business Development. I am wondering if it would be difficult to crack an existing market of the biggies dominating in it with no prior experience. \\n\\n4. What skills are missing for you to be successful in this new role?Ans: I am completely new to this domain in terms of knowledge. I do know that I have an innate ability to have a thought process in those lines. I do not have a formal training or an MBA to have that edge over others in that market. I would be up against people from Big B Schools and huge brands. I am preparing to do an MBA from a reputed college this year. I basically lack the edge, but I don't think I do lack any skills for this.\\n\\n5.What is the risk of taking up this role? \\n My profile could get altered too and put me in a different path. As I did mention if I did get into the market there will be a huge competition from the smartest Brains in the world and scaling up further would be the real task.\\n\\n6.What would you loose by not taking this role?\\n Ans: Missing out the window of opportunity. Also, my academics were average, due to certain personal family problems and an abusive marriage I was in a phase of not being confident and did not manage my career properly. It took a huge effort for me to get my ground while still trying to be financially independent. Now that I am keen on pursuing my dream I realize I don't have a great resume or great Brands to have been associated with. I am just wondering if I could get lost somewhere.\\n\\n7.Would you regret if you don't take up this new opportunity?\\n Ans: maybe because I wouldn't have tried at all. Every situation will have a solution and an outcome. At this point of time after contemplating on the same and writing to you I realize I should give it a shot. What I want is to know is how to do it right, how to do it smart. I need guidance there!\\n\\nRegards,\\n\\nVidhya.\\n\\n\\n

Thanks Vidhya for a very detailed response. I can see that you have\nabsolute clarity about what you want to do in life and that's a sign of a\nwinner. You are absolutely passionate about doing this role as you always\nwanted to be a business consultant. I feel this is a great opportunity to\nstep in and make a mark in this field. You have great experience in this\nfield and therefore don't be afraid of the competition. You are undermining\nyour potential to be successful in this role. Remember the role is being\noffered to you because this company can foresee that you will bring value\nto them. While a degree is important for progressing in your career but\ndon't undermine the importance of experience, which you have. Remember no\nbig firm would hire you without proving to them that you have done a\nsimilar job earlier successfully. So it will be good to join a small\ncompany, dirty your hands, get the relevant experience and then go for a\nbigger consultancy firm. And side by side complete MBA. The risk of failure\nis much less in a smaller firm vs a big firm.\n\nRegarding the new firm you must fully understand the scope of your role \nconfirm whether it involves looking at strategic deals/work etc or is it\njust the back end kind of work. Assess what is the opportunity to learn new\nthings and grow in the organisation. Some other things to consider:\nHow old is this company, who are their clients, what is their\nprofitability, how long have employees stayed in this firm & grown, what's\ntheir biggest success story so far etc etc. Once you understand these\naspects assess what would make you successful in this new company and this\nnew profile. Play on your strengths and don't focus on your weaknesses or\ndevelopment needs. Be confident about the skills and knowledge that you\nbring to the table and how can you leverage them to make a successful\nbeginning in this firm.\n\nI am very confident that you will be successful as you are going to follow\nyour passion and when you make your passion your work nothing comes in the\nway to success.\n\nAll the best !\n\n\n*Regards, AV*\n\n\n*Executive & Life Coach Leadership Development*\n*www.coachamitvip.com <http://www.coachamitvip.com>*\n*Contact +91 9811392006*\n\n\n\n

I want to grow n rise but not know how. I m gradute with textile n chemistry have many more big dreams which have no means now. Whay should i do?

Dear Asha,\n\nYou seem to be quite disappointed with how things have unfolded for you in\nlife and seems to have lost confidence in your abilities.\n\nMy first advise would be that you should respect yourselves for who you are\nand not feel that you are a failure. May be the jobs that you have tried so\nfar haven't worked for you. So that doesn't mean that you can't succeed in\nlife. You are an amazing individual who has a number of natural gifts and\ntalents. You just need to find out that one job where you can use your\ntalent and achieve success.\n\nSince these jobs that you have tried so far haven't worked for you\ntherefore, first of all you should identify what are you passionate about,\nwhat do you like doing, what job or hobby would interest you to get up\nevery morning and look forward to doing that job with energy & passion\nevery day, day after day. If you feel that for doing that particular job or\nfollowing that passion you don't have the skills then please up skill\nyourself and learn about that. You must be fully convinced about that and\nmust put your 100% effort in it and not leave that mid way.\n\nIf you do what you are passionate about you would be very successful. You\nare brilliant don't let your past experiences blackmail your present to\nruin your beautiful future.\n\nAll the best !\n\n*Regards, AV*\n\n\n*Executive & Life Coach Leadership Development*\n*www.coachamitvip.com <http://www.coachamitvip.com>*\n*Contact +91 9811392006*\n\n\n
