It’s weekend and there is a huge pile of work which keeps mounting up every passing week and weekend. Deadlines, meetings, projects, targets, numbers these are the only words in my mind. The need to excel and the fear of failure pushes us to the point of breaking down.


 


 

Anxiety takes over and we are left with a numb feeling of helplessness. You remember the time during exams right before the final bell is about to ring and  supervisor is about to snatch away your answer sheet. How anxious and sweaty you get all of a sudden. You just want to vomit every damn point you might have mugged up for the paper. Performing is one side of the coin but performing under pressure is an altogether different ballgame.



People lose their cool under such circumstances. And in this day and age,  pressure is a constant factor and we are subjected to uber demanding work. Feeling anxious is natural in such cases, but a prolonged and exactly anxiety disorder needs medical attention. Apart from dietary and lifestyle changes. Yoga has emerged as one of the modern miraculous practice which ensures overall well being. And there are specific asanas to combat anxiety. Check out these Yoga asanas to counter anxiety. Give it a try and stretch those jammed muscles and joints. I call it stretch therapy. Get some this weekend and in the coming weeks to hit anxiety in the face.


 



 

Now that we are talking about anxiety and ways to counter it, let me also divert your attention to mindful workouts. When you decide that. “From now on I will start working out.” That workout may be any form of exercise; walking, jogging, gymming, yoga, pilates, zumba, or whatever you like. It has to be a physical activity. Did you ever notice or feel, you tend to lose interest 5 minutes into your workout. Why so? Your mind is not trained to focus during workouts. While training your muscles, stamina and strength, you should also train your mind to be present at the moment.



Imagine thinking about that call you have to get on with the client to quote the final figure, while you are jogging or doing surya namaskar. Sounds like you’re cheating on yourself. Mindful workout are the toughest. I have been working out for the past 10 years and I can only vouch for sure that there were quite a few times when I was mindful during my workouts. If you are like me with a short span of attention do read how to make your workouts more mindful. This is important to derive maximum benefit from our exercises and not practice them mindlessly, but mindfully.

Of course the one’s who have fallen for the beauty of wrinkles and freckles, won’t find this a relevant post (people like me)

Instill calmness for smoothly riding the chaotic week ahead.
