You Need To Fight For Your Passion like Pallabi Guha
I am Pallabi Guha, 23 years old and leading the Marketing Department of Holiday Inn Resort in Kolkata. After completing my class 12th (ISC) from Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar with Science, I took up Engineering. While pursuing my B.tech from a reputed university something else caught my attention.
Blogging! From the 2nd year of B.Tech, I started blogging as a hobby which turned out to be my passion. I started attending events, talked about them on my social media & blog posts & started networking. Somehow, my classmates were not happy about the same & started taunting me.
I started meeting a lot of marketing professionals & they seemed to like my work. They started taking suggestions from me for planning campaigns & events.
That's when I realised that maybe this is what I want to do. I want to be a Marketer. Through blogging, I am marketing myself, my own brand. Why can't I market something else?
By then, my complete focus shifted from Engineering to Marketing. But at the same time, to keep my family happy, I kept scoring good marks in B. Tech.
When others were focusing on internships related to engineering, I was doing internships related to marketing.
Everyone thought that I was crazy to focus on something which was not even there in the curriculum.
2018, B.Tech was over & I started my career as a Marketing Executive in a start-up company called Autogram. Jan 2019, I competed against Marketing Professionals with more than 6-7 years of experience for a position in a renowned company.
Feb 2019, I got the job!
InterContinental Hotels Group is a leading multinational hospitality company & handling a project like Holiday Inn Resort Kolkata is challenging yet promising. One of the youngest Marcom.
If a 23-year old can do it, you can do it too!
People will criticize you, will pull you down but you should keep going.
