"The question isn't who's going to let me; it's who's going to stop me." —Ayn Rand
There are several glass ceilings constraining a woman's journey to a higher level at every juncture. These can be in form of her gender, society, culture, family, environment and so on. In a country like India, this is not a curious fact but only fairly natural. This pattern has been driven by older couples as a 'social norm', despite all the progress around them in recent decades. This has paved its way forward making relationships complicated and brittle. For instance, the researchers show that women who decides to work or earns more than her husband is seen as a prime reason in marital discord today, forcing them to not work at all, or to work less.
What led us all to this? This is bad not only for building a sustainable future but also for the economy at large.
Dare to Make a change. Dare to be Yourself
"Vulnerability is the core, the heart, the center of meaningful human experiences," says Dr. Brené Brown, a professor and vulnerability researcher at the University of Houston.
'Uncertainty', 'risk', and 'emotional exposure' are the three key terms that Dr. Brown has chosen to describe Vulnerability. After twelve years of research on Vulnerability and Shame, Dr. Brown arrived at a conclusion that took the world by surprise: 'what scares us is sometimes actually good for us, and if we can stomach sitting with it, vulnerability has the potential to transform itself into joy.'
This deep-seated feeling of insecurity and urge to avoid situations that you feel are unhealthy, are more damaging than good, preventing you from achieving what you ultimately want.
It is important recognise these vulnerabilities, your needs and environment and seize up yourself to bridge the gap between where you are right now and where we want to be. Here is a five step plan by Earl Prevette, a master salesman and successful author, to turn your ability into success:
1. Take Stock of Yourself
2. Take Stock of Your Environment – Look for An Opportunity
3. Create a Plan to Take Advantage of the Opportunity You Identified
4. Develop a Process To Put the Plan Into Action
5. Produce An Act to Make the Plan a Reality
We need to dream, we need to change and we need to transform, for the revolution is here and it's time to embark on a journey of achievement, success and happiness. Take charge and turn your life around.
Gold is found by those who look for it.
